Spring is finally here!

  1. I think it is safe to say that spring has sprung. The Sandhill Cranes and Swans have arrived and the river is broken up. We are also expecting 65 degrees all week. Sunrise today: 5:31 am, sunset at 10:09. We're stretching for 17 hours of sunshine! Our backyard is clearing out pretty quick and has revealed some nice landscaping. We should be able to get a garden in by mid-May.
My garage has a very flat roof and the rapid snow melt has led to some pretty serious leaks into the garage. A shop vac in the garage and a little shoveling up top seems to have solved the problem.

  2. BTW, I have spent a little time exploring the outlying areas and tromping through the mud that is around most of the homes out there and it is official....I am now a city boy. I love the pavement and how it saves us from the mud and gunk. To heck with it! I see no reason to take another step into the wild by living out of town or "off the grid". It's not going to happen.
